Ok... now with the pertinent information...

The support extending from the firewall to the fender skirt on the driver's side shows per the 67 Camaro Assembly manual to have a 'retainer' coming off of it (3921854). I think I have verified that this was for Camaros with a clutch. I have parts everywhere... and took pretty good pictures prior, but missed this one when I disassembled it. Mine was a powerglide car. Do I have to worry about this retainer? Did one come on the car and I just misplaced it after taking it off?

Thanks.
Matt

I suspect 11B didn't have them installed yet. It looks like an after thought at the factory and likely from road use feedback, IMO. Below is what I wrote in a recent thread on those shields:
Looking at my 04B LOS survivor and 5B NOR restored, neither have it installed nor does the 04B survivor look to ever have had it. Looking closer to the AIM revision record it states those items related to the splash shield were "added" 3/30/67. That would explain it not showing up on my 04B yet and I suspect it wasn't installed on the 05B as well due to not being in the implementation start (my notes do not even mention it existed when I disassembled the car in the early 80's).

Perfect. Thanks. The thing that threw me was the difference in the skirt supports coming off of the firewall. The passenger side had the nuts manufactured in the support, the driver's side had square cut-outs in the support requiring a separate nut and bolt so Chevrolet thought about something from the start.

Mine isn't a survivor but it has been off the streets since '87 so much had not been messed with.

Appreciate the info. Have a great Christmas.

Both sides have pierce nuts. If only the rectangular holes are in your LH brace then the pierce nuts are missing. As in the link I posted, I have original skirt brackets, and the marks where they were against the pierce nuts are evident. The bracket was retained with nuts on the bolt that mounted the brace. The LH brace retainer bolts have a captured washer and are longer than the RH side.

Even more clear to me now. Makes sense. Thanks much.
