Can I safely say that a 9 F 17 1100837 alternator is too late for my 69 Z28? My car is an 06A with a 653 VIN. I need an alternator and I can afford this one that's on ebay but I don't want to jump on it if the date isn't going to be inline. What would I need if that date isn't correct? I'm thinking a 9 E 23 would be correct.

I would say yes it's too late.. You could go a couple of months earlier than your build date & still be ok.

I'm getting conflicting info from the Yenko site on this date. I was told if I had an 06A car 9 F 17 would be good for all the 06A cars. I doubt it though. I think someone there is trying to yank my chain.
Here's the thread I started...

I'm certainly no expert.. But with the vin being late may early June I wouldn't feel comfortable with a 9 F 17...

That's what's on mine but a 661 VIN. Probably too late for yours. Jeff

Thanks guys. That's good enough for me. Jeff yours is an 06A too maybe second or third week build?

Just read your post on Yenkos. Be very careful when searching for an 837 alternator. From my experience last year hunting for one, 80%+ were re-stamps. I had an expert (Jerry M) inspect each one I was considering and i was shocked how many were declared restamps. And real ones are not cheap. I did find a real one on eBay, but took months of looking.
Good luck with the hunt!

Just checked my list. 06As commonly have 9E23 837s.
