Are there any available reproduction trunk mats for a '69 that *match* the original mat? I just ordered (and received today) an advertised NOS trunk mat (and obviously it was NOT NOS)... It wasn't the same material, nothing was like the original. My original is still in my car, but it has many tears that I've attempted to repair. It is *thick* vinyl, and is a black on the back with a built in texture. The top side is smooth vinyl, and 'simulates' the houndstooth look (but on closer inspection, seems to be more 'checkered' than the houndstooth pattern).
Is there any company making a viable replacement mat, that matches the original?

IMHO The reproductions are too nice, they don't have the right llook or feel, maybe if you left it in a Hot Attic or in direct UV for a year or two...

X2, not the same "rubber" material.
...and trim to fit....

I wouldn't term the 'socalled NOS' one I had in my hands as 'too nice', or even 'nice', in fact it was totally unacceptable to even be 'called a reproduction. It had a thin white cloth backing, and the front seemed to be a thin plasticized cloth as well. It's thickness and weight were approx. 1/10 of the original rubber mat. Surely there must be some decent reproductions? ie. with pebbled black rubber backing, and smooth vinyl top surface? I took some photographs of my original (I've always assumed this to be the original mat, as it was in my Z28/RS when I purchased the car in 1976, and was worn, torn, and dirty even then. It still today is in the same condition as it was then since the car has been in storage since 1980. I'm attaching a couple of photographs in hope someone can confirm for certain this is an original mat, and hopefully tell me if there exists a decent reproduction of the original mat. Attached are photos of: 1) the full mat removed from the car, 2) a folded back end of it showing both the top pattern and the bottom texture, and 3) a small detailed image of the mat pattern (not houndstooth as generally described).
Thanks.

I'm sorry about that thumbnail. THIS is the image I intended to use to show the back textured side of the trunk mat. It seems to be pebbled and is black.

When you find an acceptable replacement you can put that old one in a box and send it to me :) I tossed mine in 82 (in about that shape) & never replaced it

Appreciate your offer, but I plan to use this one for awhile, patched and all, but I would sure like to find a correct reproduction. I'm amazed if there is not one...?
