I see this car is back on ebay. I know this car and it has an Original GM Crossram set up on it and a Real GM JL8 rearend bought from Rick's First Gen. The car was a US Camaro Gold winner when Allen restored it but has since had many parts replaced on it. Gone are the Smog, Chambered Stainless exhaust, Gm Transistorized Ignition, YH wheels and Wide Tread tires . The seller on Ebay supposedly has the Smog set up. This would make someone a really nice car with some fluffing. There's been talk of a fake Trim Tag. The Original was removed and replaced for the rotisserie restoration in Mid Ninety's .

I don't know about this car. Just not very well taken care of it seems to me. Surface rust all over the place. U-bolts springs etc. P/S fluid caked all over the putside of the pump. Sub frames dirty. Overall needs a much better detail than this. Geez, put it on the lift an clean it. Even the exterior paint is kinda weak and not detailed well. And those stupid hubcaps that have been on this car for years!! What are those things, 67 ?? My dream car is a black RS/Z28, but even if I had the dough I would pass on this car. Just my opinion I guess... Danny

So is it a fake tag, or was the original just R/R during the restoration?

The car was bought from an employee of Rick's First Gen when it was Rick's not Ecklers. Also if you look at the POP showing the car was sold new in GA. Allen removed the Original Trim Tag for the restoration and replaced it. I'm pretty sure it's original but Kurt or someone would have to verify. I don't even know if they were making fake tags when this car was restored. Plus this was back when the US Camaro Club had many experts judged the car in Detroit.

It appears to have been a very nice restoration 15 yrs ago (1997 or so) on what appears to have been a very nice original Z28/RS (probably a different color than black!). Seems the trim tag was changed (repro?) to get the black color with houndstooth interior), but the main numbers (engine, trans, etc) seem correct per the protecto-plate? and at that time, Ricks had access to very nice original parts.... shocks? JL8 rear? Cross Ram?.... all those parts are worth big money. The surface rust is what you get when you 'restore' your car and leave metal parts unprotected.. (just as the new cars you buy ... go look at their undersides after 15 yrs!). If I work on a part of my car, I don't like to leave the metal unprotected; if I have to clean it once, I want to protect it better than the factory did, but the builders of that car were going for *points* in a national meet, and they apparently got them! I think that's a nice car with some great parts, Yes, it's a little dirty from some driving and has the age of a 15 yr old restoration, but overall a very nice car. (but i'd rather have the original trim tag, whatever the color, than a fake one - just my opinion!)..
Note: Most car clubs judging standards today allow use of clear or semi-flat black paint on such parts...

Again, this car has been around a while. And yes it is very nice in many ways. But the trim tag just kills it altogether for me. Like Paul and the guys have mentioned many times before. 10 10 Black code Z/28's have been faked for many years. And there is very few I am sure that is why. I wonder how many are confirmed in the db? And are those 67' hub caps or not? And if they are, how the heck could you miss that if you were selling this car? Also that POP sure looks to be a little fishy and to clean for me. ... Danny

What else did "Allen" restore? Sounds like a long time cheat to me.

Still has J52 on the front. JL8 is all 4.
Over-restored.

I was over in Seattle today picking up a neat Craigslist score (Delco white light bulb cabinet) and a friend and I stopped by the showroom and took a 15 min peek at this car.
The paint was Very nice. Slick and presented well. The under body is showing some rust on components. They took the time to get it cranked over and start after some carb protesting but had a neat idle. I esp liked the color combo with the interior. Great looking car overall. But checking the results of the auction It would seem the salesman expectations are WAY out of line from the offers.

No comment on the TT, but I wouldnt be surprised.
Rust or surface corrosion persists on any car, for the most part.
Ive restored many parts on my car years ago.
Even for the fact that my car has been garaged for years, corrosion has appeared slightly... even after correctly replating items.
Moisture in the surrounding air can rapidly advance the corrosion process.
Not sure how long this car has been in Washington state,
but I'd bet the Ocean air is contributing to the advancing surafce rust you are seeing on this car.
